Marie Lacey is the founder and director of Belfast Community Gospel Choir.

Renowned for her larger than life personality and great humour Marie is highly respected in the music industry for her powerful soul voice and her unique talent for choral arranging.

She lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland with her husband of 35 years, Lynas and they have a son, Jonathan, who lives in Liverpool with his wife Ayca (pronouced Eye-Cha!)

For many years Marie travelled internationally as a worship leader and conference speaker before fulfilling her dream to form Northern Ireland’s first ever Community Gospel Choir. The choir is completely multi-cultural and are thrilling audiences with their uplifting music and dynamic presentation and sound.

Marie’s musical cv is impressive indeed. To welcome in the new Millennium she was commissioned by the NI Office to create and direct a special celebration in the Waterfront Hall which was televised live by the BBC. In attendance was HRH Prince Andrew and together with 2,000 of an audience he was treated to a spectacular event which included original songs written by Marie. At the close of 2000 she was again commissioned to create another community choir to perform in the Odyssey Arena. Marie continued to direct various choirs for musicals and special events but it wasn’t until 2009 that she fulfilled her dream to form and direct a professional Gospel Choir and so BCGC was born.
